Visual Branding

A company’s brand is one of its most important assets. An effective brand identity tells their story, builds awareness and recognition, makes them memorable, and builds trust with their audience and partners. Over the course of my career as an Art Director, I’ve worked with countless businesses and organizations to help create effective visual identities. Going with a client on the journey to learn their history and story, and get steeped in their values and culture, are the building blocks of creating a visual identity that aligns with who they are and where they’re headed. And seeing the final visual brand come to life is really exciting! Below, I’ve spotlighted a few recent businesses I’ve collaborated with to create compelling visual brand identities.

Greyhound Studios, a small studio in the suburbs of Chicago, was born in 2012, recording and mixing sound for local bands. They’ve now grown to provide an array of sound services, such as music production, podcast and audiobook production, voiceover work, and live and mobile production. They decided it was time to position their brand more effectively in preparation for a new website, so they called me in to collaborate with them on a new visual identity. I designed a new logo to reflect their cool, casual vibe (complete with an original illustration I created of the greyhound), color palettes, and an array of digital graphics for online, email, and social media.

Currently, I’m working on designing a new website for Greyhound Studios, which will launch late 2024.

Write Your Own Life works to help people get their memories and stories out of their heads and onto the page via a plethora of online resources and writing courses. Recently they called me in to collaborate with them on a new visual identity. My goal was to create a logo and fresh color palette that communicates their message clearly and effectively. I also designed companion branding for their e-newsletter, “The Narrative,” as well as an array of digital and social media graphics.
